The paid AI tools sell themselves on features you won't use. A local plumbing business doesn't need a seat-priced platform to write faster or dictate email; it needs the one thing that removes the friction, and that thing is almost always free.
We list a tool here when it clears two bars: it does one useful job without a subscription, and it does that job well enough that we use it ourselves.
