Formula Won Labs
Wix vs Formula Won Labs

Wix looks fine. Nobody's calling. Here's why.

A Wix site can look sharp in a screenshot and still miss every customer searching for you. If the leads aren't coming, this is what's actually happening.

When Wix is the right call

Wix is genuinely the right call when you need a live site this week, you don't want to think about hosting, and lead volume isn't the point. A photographer's portfolio, a wedding invite page, a coming-soon site. Wix is fine.

When you’ve outgrown it

Wix stops being fine the moment your revenue depends on Google Maps rank or someone actually calling your number. The templates were written for everyone, which means Google can't tell your business apart from ten thousand others. The lead-capture flows are generic. The schema markup is shallow. Nothing on the page argues specifically for your business.

The pain we see every week

Every Wix site we've rebuilt shared the same three problems: slow mobile load (kills conversions), template copy that Google's helpful-content update quietly demoted, and no real local-SEO depth. You can't fix any of that from inside the Wix editor because the platform doesn't give you the surface area to.

FeatureWixFWON
Local Maps rankingDepends on what Google decides your site is about. Template copy makes that hard.Custom schema per service + per city. Google reads your business as itself, not one of a template pool.
AI search visibility (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini)Rare. Wix pages get quoted much less than sites built with proper structured data.We build AEO from the ground up. Named entity schema, FAQ schema, review schema, LocalBusiness schema on every page.
Load speed on mobile3-6 seconds is normal. Custom fonts + Wix's embed loader compound.~1s LCP. Next.js on Vercel edge. Assets sized and optimized.
Content depth per page300-500 words tops, generic copy. Google's HCU (Helpful Content Update) treats this like thin content.1200-2000 words per money page, written for the specific job the visitor is hiring you for.
Cost year 1~$400-600/yr for a decent plan. Cheap sticker price hides the traffic ceiling.One-time build + $299-799/mo depending on tier. Priced against the leads it should generate.
OwnershipWix owns the platform. If they sunset a feature, you find out. Migration off Wix means starting over.Your GitHub repo. Your Vercel account. Your domain. If you leave FWON, you keep everything.
Migration

We've migrated dozens of businesses off Wix. It takes 3-4 weeks. We copy every page URL forward with 301 redirects so you don't lose the little bit of ranking Wix earned. Then we build the pages Wix couldn't. In every case the phone starts ringing more inside 60 days.

Common questions

Will I lose my Google rankings if I move off Wix?

Only if the migration is sloppy. We do 301 redirects for every existing URL and preserve every page title. In practice, most businesses see rankings HOLD in the first 30 days and CLIMB by day 90 because the new pages are deeper.

Can I keep my domain?

Yes. The domain stays yours. If you registered it through Wix, we'll walk you through moving DNS to Cloudflare so you own the record.

How long does the rebuild take?

Three weeks for a five-page local service site. Add one week per additional city page if you serve multiple areas.

What if my Wix site is under a year old?

Same answer. Age of the site doesn't matter. What matters is whether the current site is actually generating leads. If it isn't, waiting six more months for it to somehow start working is the more expensive path.

Do you take clients who want to stay on Wix and just improve it?

No. We've tried. Wix's editor limits what we can improve. If you want to stay on Wix, our audit will tell you specifically what to change inside the platform, and that's where we end the engagement.
